While the Fourth Hour of the Day carries a sundial, a timepiece suitable only to the daylight hours, the Second Hour of the Night holds aloft an hourglass, a reminder, even when the wheeling stars are not visible, that the Night passes nonetheless.

As is the case with several other of the Hours who hold their attribute overhead, she is not seen as frequently in cameo form as are some of her more contained sisters. Many of her appearances are as crude renderings on small bracelet panels. Even when granted an entire brooch or pendant, she does not always receive the same degree of care as some of the others. Often she is denied her signature attribute altogether. An exception is the rendering by Filippo Tignani, seen below on the right.

She may even be refashioned into a better known figure such as Aurora or Spring.
